Who is involved in G21

The success of G21 relies on the involvement of a unique and powerful network of people who are working together for the benefit of the Region.

G21 members include government organisations, peak bodies, leading businesses, community organisations and statutory authorities.

G21 participants include business people, residents, community representatives, Councillors, Council employees, State and Federal Government representatives.

As the scope of G21's plans for the region have developed, so too has the network of people and organisations involved. When the G21 Geelong Region Strategic Plan was launched in November 2003, an estimated 600 people had been involved in its development. By the time the next, more far reaching G21 Region Plan is launched in September 2006, that involvement will have tripled.

G21 Pillar Groups:

Areas of interest to the Region were identified and called 'Pillars'. Each G21 Pillar is made up of a leader and team of between 10-20 members from a variety of organisations, all with significant experience, expertise and interest in the Pillar theme.

2003's G21 Geelong Region Strategic Plan  identified a number of priority projects in each of the Pillar themes, most of which are now well underway or completed. Many of the Pillar Groups have also identified and initiated additional projects since the launch of the first Plan.

The G21 Region Plan - a sustainable growth strategy is the second Plan for G21 and is now in development. When it is launched in September 2006, it will demonstrate the evolution of G21 since the first Plan. It will focus on a sustainable 50 year outlook for the Region and will incorporate implementation and monitoring mechanisms. The G21 Pillar Groups will play a key role in the extensive consultation forums at the heart of the G21 Region Plan.
