G21 Telecommunications Needs Assessment
The G21 Lighthouse Project, Regional Telecommunications Needs Assessment, funded by Multimedia Victoria and Regional Development Victoria determines whether there are any gaps in the existing facilities available to business and residential consumers in the G21 Region and addresses the challenge of developing a competitive telecommunications infrastructure and improving the community's access to services.
Selected findings include:
- Current prices are acceptable to the majority of users.
- The only service of which the majority of users were really critical was mobile telephony.
- The estimated spend for the Region is in excess of $260 million per annum.
- There is a reluctance to change providers from both business (32%) and residential (62%) users.
- Over 75% of busniess and 90% of residential users don't think they will have a need for more than 5x current bandwidth. 67% of residents think requirements will stay the same.
