Education & Training Pillar

The Education & Trianing Pillar focuses on growing the Region's capability, and reputation, as a learning community.

Education and training is one of the region's key strengths with a wide range of institutions, organisations and commercial providers including both government, and private, early childhood services and primary and secondary schools, many of which are widely recognised for their excellence.

Tertiary education providers include Deakin University, which is one of Australia's leading universities, the Gordon Institute of TAFE and Marcus Oldham Farm Management College.  Tertiary enrolments have been increasing steadily.

Adult and Community Education providers include Neighbourhood Houses in all of the Regions municipalities, Geelong Adult Training and Education, which is the largest provider of Adult and Community Further Education programs, Colac Adult Education and the University of the Third Age.
The City of Greater Geelong has been declared a Learning City, which will build community awareness of the role of learning in building a dynamic community.
