Consultation Forums: September- October 2005
The development of the G21 Region Plan is now well underway with the completion of eighteen consultation forums held at a number of locations around the Region during September and October. The objective of the consultation program was to identify Land Use, Environmental, Social and Economic challenges and opportunities that can influence the competitive position of the G21 Region over the next 50 years.
Summaries of these forums are now available .
GRP Report One - "Regional Context" Completed
Report One of the G21 Region Plan (Regional Context) is complete. The Report is now available G21 Region Plan _Regional Context_October 2005.pdf
GRP Report Two - "Understanding the Region and Challenges for the Future" (DRAFT) Completed
The DRAFT of Report 2 of the new G21 Region Plan was presented to the Executive Committee on 16th December 2005 with feedback requested by close of business on 25th January. This is a 'work in progress' document made available to all under the G21 Principles of open, transparent communication.
Titled "Understanding the Region & Challenges for the Future", Report Two builds on the work presented in Report One - "Regional Context". Both are background research reports developed with the purpose of using data to identify the Challenges and Opportunities facing the Region over the next 40 to 50 years.
Whilst"Regional Context" focusses on key indicators, consultation outcomes and how we compare to Australia, Victoria and two benchmark regions - Report Two takes a more detailed look at what is happening within the Region and starts to pose questions in areas such as land use and sustainable growth management. Social, economic and environment considerations feature strongly.
