The Five Councils

G21 is an alliance of government, business and community agencies of the region inclusive of the municipalities of Colac Otway, Golden Plains, Geelong, Surf Coast and Queenscliffe.

The five Councils that make up the Geelong region have committed to participating in G21, with the outcome to be a Geelong Region Strategic Plan which will outline the projects agreed upon to benefit our whole region.

   

The Borough of Queenscliffe
The Borough began in 1863 and is the smallest municipality in Victoria, with a permanent resident population of 3,263 and covering only 13 sq. kilometres.

 
 

 

City of Greater Geelong
Geelong has a population of over 190,000 and is Victoria's largest regional city covering an area of 1,250 sq. kilometres.  Geelong is situated on the shores of Corio Bay.
 
 

Colac Otway Shire
Colac Otway Shire is renowned for its magnificent southern coastline, otway rainforests and volcanic lakes, craters and plains, with a population of 21,000 people.

 
  Golden Plains Shire
Golden Plains comprises of four former rural councils covering 2,705 sq. kilometres, and today services several township and rural communities totaling over 15,000 people.
 
  Surf Coast Shire
With a population of 20,000 it covers an area of 1,560 sq. kilometres with some 55 kms of coastline and the start of the fabulous Great Ocean Road defining its southern boundary.
