Arts, Heritage & Culture Pillar

The G21 Arts, Heritage & Culture Pillar’s aims to foster artistic creativity, cultural leadership and involvement, as well as recognition and utilisation of heritage assets by:

  • promoting culture for all by engaging the community
  • developing artists, ideas and knowledge
  • building creative industries
  • acknowledging, celebrating and creating places and spaces
  • promoting cultural leadership.

Priority Projects

The G21 Board has endorsed the following Arts & Culture project as a ‘G21 Priority Project’:
  • An arts and cultural precinct comprising a new Library and Heritage Centre, expanded GPAC and Geelong Gallery and renovation of the Old Courthouse Building.

Latest Pillar Activity

The State Government is bringing Geelong’s famous bollards to life with $2 million in funding for the Say Hello to the Geelong Bollards project.
More than 60,000 people are expected in Geelong’s CBD to celebrate White Night, a festival that will take over city streets, parklands, laneways, public spaces and cultural institutions.
The City of Greater Geelong’s potential move to a new office building could have huge flow-on benefits for the Geelong Cultural Precinct, a G21 Priority Project.
