G21 Region Hockey Strategy
The five G21 Region local municipal councils, via the G21 Sport & Recreation Pillar, in partnership with Hockey Victoria, are working to develop a regional strategy to guide the overall direction and development of hockey across the region for the next 10 years.
InsideEDGE Sport and Leisure Planning has been commissioned to develop the strategy which will focus on both the built 'on-field' elements of the game (facilities and infrastructure) and the equally important 'off-field' components, including increased participation levels, building the social hockey format, sports development, resourcing and partnerships development.
The G21 region is forecast to experience estimated growth of 670 traditional hockey players between 2011 and 2031. In addition, the region should see about 500 new players of the emerging social hockey formats by the end of 2019.
A final version of the G21 Region Hockey Strategy is expected by the end of November 2018.
- The G21 Region Hockey Strategy Project Bulletin No 2 (June 2018) looks at stakeholder engagement, and provides key workshop and data findings which will provide valuable information towards development of a strategic framework.
- The G21 Region Hockey Strategy Project Bulletin No 1 (March 2018) provides an overview of the project and timeline.
