Recent funding announcements and election commitments across the G21 region are extremely welcome and appreciated, however there are other worthy projects needing support.

Last month’s $355 million federal-state government City Deal to fund projects across Geelong and the Great Ocean Road was history-making.

The City Deal was a once-in-a-lifetime stimulus opportunity for the regional economy, with jobs and other benefits in the medium and longer-term.

Next month’s federal election follows hot-on-the-heels of last November’s state election, meaning many of us are in a state of ‘election fatigue’.

Nevertheless, it is during the lead-up to an election that politicians listen most keenly to their electorates.

That’s why we at G21 will continue to take every opportunity through to election day to remind our elected parliamentarians, and would-be parliamentarians, of the region’s priorities.
