Stellar G21 Forum line-up
G21 has announced a stellar line-up of speakers for its 2019 annual stakeholder forum to be held at RACV Torquay Resort on Friday 30 August.
Speakers include Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews, prominent ABC radio and TV journalist and commentator Patricia Karvelas, the new Deakin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin, Eden Project International Chief Executive David Harland, Barwon Water Chair Jo Plummer, Geelong Port CEO Brett Winter and Victorian Treaty Commissioner Jill Gallagher.
Premier Daniel Andrews
Premier Andrews has been a long-time supporter of the annual G21 Stakeholder Forum and G21 is delighted to have him back this year to outline his government’s agenda for our region.
ABC radio and TV host Patricia Karvelas is presenter of RN Drive on Radio National. She has been a senior journalist in the Australian media for 15 years. In broadcast journalism she has worked at the ABC and SBS.
She has worked for The Australian newspaper covering federal politics, most recently working as the Victorian Bureau Chief and Editor and Senior National Affairs Journalist.
Patricia has been a regular presenter on 774 ABC Melbourne (including a recent stint for morning host Jon Faine), and frequently appears on a range of television and radio programs including ABC TV's The Drum and Insiders.
She also co-hosts with the ABC’s Fran Kelly The Party Room podcast, analysing the latest news from Parliament House.
Eden Project International Chief Exec. David Harland heads the organisation behind the proposal to redevelop the former Alcoa site at Anglesea.
The UK-based educational and environmental charity and social enterprise, together with Alcoa of Australia, has commenced community consultation to seek feedback on a concept for a world-class eco-tourism attraction on the site.
Professor Iain Martin
Professor Iain Martin has recently taken over from Professor Jane den Hollander as Deakin University Vice-Chancellor.
The forum will be one of the early opportunities for the Geelong region community to hear from Professor Martin since becoming Vice-chancellor.
The environment, water security and recycling will be key themes for this year’s forum.
Infrastructure Victoria’s Project Director Resource Recovery & Recycling Elissa Winter will speak at the forum ahead of a panel discussion on waste and resource recovery.
The panel will include Corio Waste Management CEO Mat Dickens, BSW Waste & Resource Recovery Group CEO Ashley Pittard, PonyUp for Good co-founder Mardi Brown and Barwon Water CEO Tracey Slatter.
The 2019 G21 Stakeholder Forum will be held on Friday 30 August (9.00am – 4.00pm) at the RACV Torquay Resort.
