Arts, Heritage & Culture Pillar

The G21 Arts, Heritage & Culture Pillar’s aims to foster artistic creativity, cultural leadership and involvement, as well as recognition and utilisation of heritage assets by:

  • promoting culture for all by engaging the community
  • developing artists, ideas and knowledge
  • building creative industries
  • acknowledging, celebrating and creating places and spaces
  • promoting cultural leadership.

Priority Projects

The G21 Board has endorsed the following Arts & Culture project as a ‘G21 Priority Project’:
  • An arts and cultural precinct comprising a new Library and Heritage Centre, expanded Arts Centre and Gallery and renovation of the Old Courthouse Building.

The G21 Arts, Heritage & Culture Pillar projects support the objectives of ‘The G21 Geelong Region Plan – A sustainable growth strategy’ and are owned and delivered by a variety of regional organisations. Current Projects are:

Latest Pillar Activity

Geelong creative powerhouse group Back to Back Theatre receive $100,000 grant to develop a script for a feature film based on the company’s internationally-acclaimed theatre production Ganesh Versus the Third Reich.
