e-News: Leaders for Geelong

Friends of the G21 Region, Be a Geelong Leader

e-News is designed to provide you with a sense of the important activities and projects that are being proposed for the G21 Region.

All G21 member organisations work together to support initiatives that will improve the outlook for the future of the G21 region. One such organisation is the Committee for Geelong who have been active members of the G21 alliance since its inception. A community leadership program auspiced by the Committee for Geelong with the goal of ensuring that our region is well placed with informed, passionate and well-connected business and community leaders is now calling for applications from G21 region businesses, statutory authorities and not-for-profit organisations.

The Leaders for Geelong program is designed to broaden participants' knowledge of the issues and opportunities that face the G21 region. Participants hear from outstanding speakers on a range of topics and tour sites that they may not otherwise access. In the second year of the program participants become actively engaged in projects that make a positive and tangible difference to the region.

G21 pillars and project groups benefit from this project work. In previous years, participants in the Leaders for Geelong program have delivered research and feasibility studies that have been used to progress G21 priority projects for the region. Deakin Business School has also recognised the program with two unspecified credit points towards their relevant Masters programs.

Applications for the 4th intake of the Leaders for Geelong program will close soon, so we highly recommend that you consider whether you or one of your colleagues should undertake this program to provide the region with a wide range of potential future leaders. 50% of the program's participants are selected from business, 25% statutory and 25% from the not for profit sector. The diverse views, knowledge and values of this range of participants are vital to the success of the program.
