G21 & Cricket Victoria Barwon Regional Cricket Strategy

Sports and Recreation Pillar

The G21 & Cricket Victoria Barwon Regional Cricket Strategy will guide the overall direction and development of cricket across the G21 and Cricket Victoria Barwon Region for the next 10 years.

The strategy will focus on both the built ‘on-field’ elements of the game (facilities and infrastructure) as well as the equally important ‘off-field’ components including sport development, increasing participation levels, policy and planning, partnership development and the overarching governance and management of cricket across the region.

The identification and assessment of both local and regional needs and the development of practical strategies that can collectively meet government, cricket and community stakeholder objectives will be a key outcome of this project.

The strategy was endorsed by the five G21 municipalities before being ratified by the G21 Board in September 2019.

This project was commissioned by the five G21 local municipal councils, together with Cricket Victoria and the State Government.

Note: Since the development of the G21 and Cricket Victoria Barwon Regional Cricket Strategy, a Season Determination Agreement regarding ground share arrangements between cricket, AFL and State Government is now final that applies 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2022 (exclusive)’.
