Arts, Heritage & Culture Pillar Update
Discussion at the last G21 Arts, Heritage and Culture meeting covered the following major items:
- CoGG Cultural Strategy and Heritage Assets project – a grounding project to map the cultural assets and collections of the City. It will be peer reviewed with industry, government and community consultation.
- Colac Otway Arts & Culture Strategy – the strategy covers the role of COPACC, public spaces, small towns, libraries and support for creative industries.
- Geelong Region Arts Atlas Update – the Atlas was launched in 2014 and gives visibility to artists and venues in the region. It is named as Geelong, but does cover the region. There has been a large increase for CoGG based participants but limited in other LGAs. Purpose and use is to be reviewed by each Council.
The state election last year resulted in a significant funding allocation for the next stage of the GPAC development and the Queenscliffe Hub $5m project has also been funded with State and Federal allocations.
Representatives are reviewing the priority list for further discussion, and to determine where the pillar focuses our collective energy.
