The Barwon River Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) is inviting community input to help it develop a vision for protecting the rivers of the Barwon.

Possible future directions are outlined in a Discussion Paper: ‘Our living rivers of the Barwon’.

The Discussion Paper has been prepared following extensive consultation with and input from traditional owners, communities, industry and government agencies. It seeks to promote community discussion about issues and opportunities to improve the oversight and management of the Barwon catchment and to protect these valuable natural assets for generations to come.

The consultation period is now open and closes midnight 3 November 2019.

Have your say

There are a number of ways you can have your say.  Visit the Engage Victoria webpage for more information about:

• Attending an 'open house' community session in October
• Filling in the online survey, or downloading the survey template and submiting your response via email or post, or
• Emailing or posting a written submission outlining feedback on the Discussion Paper.

Upcoming ‘open house’ community consultation sessions – meeting our water challenge

The ‘open house’ sessions are a great chance for you to have your say on the Barwon River MAC Discussion Paper themes and directions, or speak directly with a MAC member about the things that matter most to you.

At these sessions you can also hear about related government initiatives including the Long-Term Water Resource Assessment findings, the commencement of the development of a new Central and Gippsland Sustainable Water Strategy and a water market transparency project.

The ‘open house’ sessions are a collaborative approach so that you can hear about multiple water initiatives under one roof.

Bookings/RSVPs for the following open houses can be made on the Engage Victoria website:
